There are various varieties of rice available in the market. Most people are not aware of the variety of rice they eat. Our rice is the Pusa Basmati 1121 variety which is a landmark Basmati rice variety having Basmati quality traits introgressed from traditional Basmati varieties. It possesses extra-long slender milled grains, pleasant aroma, and an exceptionally high cooked kernel elongation.
The edible rice grains are separated from the husk using traditional processing techniques. The rice kernel thus obtained is cleaned and packed in its most natural form. Hence our rice is unpolished and in its purest form.
With the aim of providing 100% pure and unadulterated food products to the consumers, FarmToFellas envisions welfare of its farmers. The hardworking manpower is provided with the fair price for its produce. Under the guidance of the farmers, the produce is processed using traditional methods with 0% preservatives.
Basmati Rice (1.0 Kg)
1121 rice variety is sourced from the farms and is then processed to remove its husk from the kernel. Unlike the usual practice of processing of polishing the rice grains that alters the natural taste, aroma and texture of the Rice, we simply pack the produce without any treatments or addition of artificial whitening agents. Hence the dishes cooking using Farm To Fellas’ Rice will have a distinguished natural taste and smell.
The name ‘Basmati’ is likely to have originated from the Sanskrit word, bas from ‘vasay’ connoting aroma; and mati from mayup meaning ingrained from the beginning. Common usage could have resulted in change of vas to bas resulting in Basmati. Basmati is a variety of long, slender-grained aromatic rice which is traditionally from the Indian subcontinent. Basmati rice has a typical pandan-like flavour caused by the aroma compound 2-acetyl-1-pyrroline. During cooking, the level of 2-acetyl-1-pyrroline decreases. Soaking the rice for 30 minutes before cooking permits 20% shorter cooking times and preserves more of the 2-acetyl-1-pyrroline.
Rice is a staple food for more than half of the world’s population, and 90% of the world’s rice comes from Asia. Below are some of the benefits of including Rice in your meal:
A quick energy source: Carbohydrates are your body’s main fuel source, and as rice is broken down into sugar and enters your bloodstream (like all carbs do), the glucose is shuttled to your cells to power up your activities. White rice can actually be a better choice for athletes who need an easily digestible fuel source before a race or event as it is easily digested and broken down into sugars.
Safe for people with food allergies: Rice is least allergic of all grains, hence makes a good choice for people who have food sensitivities or allergies.
- An excellent source of vitamins and minerals: Rice has more than 15 vitamins and minerals especially the key B-vitamins, phosphorus, selenium and magnesium.
